September Blog Post: Mottoes for states and organizations

A Latin motto for an organization, school, government or club has been a longstanding tradition, dating back centuries. Such phrases offer prestige and inspiration to the bearer. They can also be an opportunity for an entity to celebrate its mission and goals, to project its identity to the wider world, and to demonstrate those things held to be most important by them. The US government has a few Latin mottoes and many of the states in the US also have Latin mottoes. Additionally, branches of the military, organizations and societies, such as the Olympics, and many medical associations use Latin mottoes in similar ways.
